Mississippi Medigap plans supplement your Original Medicare benefits.

What are the Mississippi Medigap Plans?

As mentioned earlier, MedSup policies bridge the gaps in Medicare coverage, handling out-of-pocket costs like deductibles (the amount you pay for Medicare-approved expenses before Medicare starts to pay) and copayments (part of each bill you must pay after you’ve paid the deductible). These are crucial for comprehensive coverage.

For example, Medicare Part B covers 80%, leaving 20% for you to pay, creating a potential financial gap. Medigap plans step in to cover these expenses. Check out our article ‘What Does Medigap Cover?‘ for full details.

Another thing to keep in mind is the Excess Charges. Medicare allows doctors and facilities to charge patients up to an additional 15% in fees, but many Medigap plans, Including Plan G, will pay these Excess Charges for you. Check out our article “How To Avoid Medicare Excess Charges” for more info!

There are ten standardized plans at MS, labeled A through N. Each plan offers a set of core benefits along with additional ones. While the core benefits stay the same, not every company may offer every plan. Even though these plans are standardized, Insurers can use different pricing models, such as issue age and attained age schedules. See how much Mississippi plans Medigap cost in your area.

How Much Do Mississippi Medigap Plans Cost?

Although the benefits are the same, the cost of Medigap plans in Mississippi varies among companies. Insurers use different pricing models, such as issue age and attained age schedules.

  • Issue age premiums: Based on your age when the policy is first issued, these premiums may increase due to factors like inflation and Medicare changes but not solely because of aging.
  • Attained age premiums: These depend on your age on each premium due date. Premiums increase not only due to external factors but also with your aging.

Most insurance providers in Mississippi only offer age-attended Medigap plans.
