Blue Shield of California is currently offering a “Medigap Underwriting Holiday.” During this time, those who already have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) or Medicare Advantage plan can switch to any Medigap plan without underwriting approval.

Blue Shield of California Underwriting Holiday details

  • Applicants enrolled in any Medicare Supplement OR Medicare Advantage plan may enroll in any Blue Shield of California Medicare Supplement plan without underwriting review or approval.
  • All Blue Shield Medicare Supplement plans are available. This means Plans A, F Extra*, G, G Extra, G Inspire, and N
  • Application must be received between now through February 28, 2021
  • Your new Blue Shield plan must have an effective date between Dec. 1, 2020 – April 1, 2021
  • Must be a California resident to apply. Call 800-930-7956 to enroll or apply for Blue Shield  online here

*Reminder: Plan F and Plan F Extra are only available to applicants who were Medicare eligible before January 1, 2020.
