Medicare is available to most senior Americans who turn 65 as well as those with certain disabilities or end-stage renal. Once you are Medicare eligible you are able to purchase a Medicare Supplement plan, AKA Medigap. While Medicare offers great coverage, if you were diagnosed with cancer, needed extended hospital care, or were traveling outside of the United States, Medicare may not cover all your costs.

Let’s talk Chemo and Medicare
Medicare usually covers chemotherapy but still passes some of the costs on to patients. If you have both Part A & Part B, you will still be responsible for deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments.
Medigap can help pay some or all of these burdensome costs. Click here to read how much having only Medicare can cost you. (Source)
Medigap for those on Medicare: Foreign Travel
Even if you have both Medicare Part A and Part B you do not have health coverage on foreign land. Some, but not all, Medigap plan have foreign travel emergency coverage to help pay for medical issues when travelling abroad. Visit our Medigap Overview Page to answer many of your questions about what is covered.
Can I switch plans if I change my mind?
We get it—choosing a Medigap plan isn’t easy. But the good news is, even if your plan doesn’t end up being the right fit, you may still have options to switch. If you’re within six months of your Part B start date, you’re in your guaranteed enrollment period—no health questions asked. After that, state laws like the Birthday Rule can give you another chance. And if those don’t apply, you might still qualify, though medical questions may be required. Want to see where you stand?
