When getting Medicare there are a few things every Medicare eligible person should know about their Medicare policy. As there are many facets of Medicare, we wanted to point out 4 of your rights that are important to you.

1) Right to See Any Doctor You Want

If you have Original Medicare you can see any doctor or healthcare provider that takes Medicare. Remember “Nobody—not your doctor, not anyone—can tell you who you have to see. Your Medicare benefits will also stay the same,” from the Medicare.gov website.

2) Right to Request an Appeal

If you have a question about health coverage or payment owed you have the right to request an appeal. This is important to remember if you feel that you are being overcharged or improperly charged.

3) Right to Receive Info on Your Rights

When you have Medicare, Medicare must send information about your rights, including your appeal rights, to help you resolve issues.

4) Right to Purchase Medigap, Medicare Advantage, and Medicare Part D

You has the right to purchase Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) when you turn 65 and first enroll in Medicare Part B. Medigap insurance is sold by private companies to help supplement the health care costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.  During your initial Medicare enrollment, you will also qualify for Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part D drug regardless of your health history.

For more information about your Medigap, Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part D, call the number above or contact Senior65.com.
