On Nov. 12, 2026 HealthSpring National Health Insurance Company is changing the household premium discount on its Virginia Medicare Supplement plans. Members who currently receive a household discount will see a smaller discount on their next annual renewal.

Note: Coverage does not change and members do not need to take any action. Only the premium discount is affected.

What Is Changing

The total potential household discount drops from 20% to 11%. The reduction comes entirely from the Multi-Policy Discount (MPD). The Living With Someone discount stays the same.

Discount Before After Change
Multi-Policy Discount (MPD) 14% 5% -9 points
Living With Someone 6% 6% None
Total potential discount 20% 11% -9 points

Who Is Affected

The Multi-Policy Discount applies when more than one member of a household is enrolled in a Medicare Supplement policy provided by, or through an affiliate of, Health Care Service Corporation. Those members will see the MPD fall from 14% to 5%.

The Living With Someone discount is for members who have lived in the same household for the past 12 months with one to three adults age 50 or older. That can be a legal spouse, civil union partner, or domestic partner. This discount remains at 6%.

When It Takes Effect

The reduced discount will appear in annual renewal letters sent after Nov. 12. It takes effect automatically on each member’s next annual renewal date, so the timing of the increase depends on when your policy renews.

What Virginia Members Can Do

Nothing is required. If the new renewal premium is higher than you expected, you can compare what other carriers charge for the same Medigap plan in Virginia.

Virginia’s Birthday Rule allows you to switch Medigap plans without medical underwriting during a window around your birthday. Our Virginia Medigap Birthday Rule guide explains how it works. Remember Medigap medical underwriting is another path to switching at any time of year.
