Blue Shield Medigap G, G Extra and G Inspire: Background
Blue Shield of California, an independent member of the Blue Shield Association, is a nonprofit health plan dedicated to providing Californians with access to high-quality health care at an affordable price.
According to AHIP “State of Medigap 2020,” Plan G is currently the number one selling Medigap plan on the market. Blue Shield was one of the first to offer additional ancillary benefits to Medigap Plan G in the form of vision, hearing and roadside assistance.
Blue G Extra and G Inspire offer hearing and vision benefits. Since both plans are relatively new Medicare Supplement plans, they have a pool of younger members. This may allow the plans to be better priced. The Blue Shield G Inspire is not available in all markets.
